Our wine tonight came in a generous one liter size, nice for a small dinner party of two. Golden color and a soft fragrance filled our glasses for the initial sampling. A tasty complex of apricot, pineapple and warm apple combined with some very sprightly acids that were fine enough to be termed fizzy. There was just enough honeyed fruit balancing the bright finish that I knew this would be a good match for our spicy menu.

Marinated grilled chicken was topped with a savory relish of apricots, plump green olives and onion all accented with a combination of fragrant Moroccan spices. Along with that was Israeli couscous mixed with toasted almonds, black olives, apricots again and a hot spice mix that matched that of the chicken. Rich with layers of flavor, the meal had lots of interesting textures and personality combined with a nice kick of cayenne. This complex was delightfully matched by the warm fruit and heady spritz of the wine. This Riesling really responded to the food and its low alcohol content handled the heat with ease. The apricots and honey in the recipes complimented the fruity aspects of the wine while the olives and spice matched up with the refreshing acids.

This tasty wine is a good value with a personality that was almost like Champagne. Delicious, food friendly and fragrant, it's a good bet for a wide range of meal-time experiences. After the meal, I did notice a bit of a vegetative flavor sneaking in amongst the fruit that took my rating down a notch. That aside, this was definitely a good food wine that is easy to drink and easy on the pocketbook.
